Parental advice and support from Brent Council and Barnados

Brent Council working in partnership with the children's charity Barnados has supported families in the care of SBHL through their Parent Champion Volunteer scheme. Providing regular drop-in advice centres, families have been able to access essential help and support services through family wellbeing centres as well as mental health support, schools and nurseries.

Country hiking for Bristol residents provided by Ospreys and Wesport

Residents at SBHL accommodation have been able to experience the great outdoors of the beautiful North Somerset countryside thanks to guided country walks led by Ospreys and Wesport. The benefits of walking - particularly in the countryside - has been well documented so it has been fantastic that SBHL residents have been provided with this opportunity to boost their mental and physical health.

Magic show provided by Magic For Smiles and Care4Calais

Families at SBHL hotels have been entertained by talented magicians thanks to Magic For Smiles and Care4Calais. Jamie Jibberish of Magic For Smiles both entertains and supports the children who have lived through tough and sometimes traumatic times before coming into SBHL's care.

College admission workshop provided by Ealing Green College

Ealing Green College kindly hosted a group of SBHL residents looking to continue their education with a college admissions workshop and information day. Those who attended came away with a much better understanding of further and vocational education options as well as technical skills training such as apprenticeships.

Children's fun activities thanks to Flying Seagull

Children in the care of SBHL in London have benefitted from brilliant, fun and dynamic sessions of magic, games and art workshops run by Flying Seagull. The team at lying Seagull are trained clowns, musicians and entertainers who bring fun and play into the lives of the children they work with. It is easy to see from the children's smiles how much they enjoy their time with Flying Seagulls.

Weekly tennis sessions supported by Wesport

Residents have been able to get the benefit of fresh air and exercise thanks to Wesport who have supported weekly tennis sessions with equipment and clothing.

Road safety course, bikes and bike stand

SBHL residents have had a boost to their ability to enjoy their local community with a fantastic donation of bikes, bike parking and a road safety course courtesy of West Berkshire Action for Refugees. Being able to get out and about, enjoy a bit of freedom is a big boost to these grateful residents.
